If "Heaven is a place on earth" then our private mountain retreat preserves a little bit of Heaven for you. Nestled in the heart of the Magaliesberg Protected Nature Environment we are 1,5 kms above sea level, and approx 1,5 hrs from Johannesburg/Pretoria. Well above the pollution line we have 8 semi-luxury, self-catering, self-contained cottages scattered high in the Magaliesberg mountains to afford privacy . The top of our property is Beacon 131, so there is plenty of hiking, walking or scrambling in the mountain, where you will discover stunning sights, sounds and smells that will take your breath away.
Take a break at our picturesque dams and calm your mind and soul. The fauna, flora, geological formations, waterways and sweeping landscapes will restore your faith in our planet and capture your imagination. At night you will relax into the peaceful silence of pure African mountain bushveld ...... a silence broken only by the distant cry of a jackal, the gurgle of a stream, hoot of an owl, or the wind in the trees. Property AmenitiesWe have 8 semi-luxury cottages, scattered around our retreat to afford privacy. Some are thatched, some overlook the mountain, others are surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Ceiling or standing fans are supplied in summer, heaters & extra blankets in winter. Bedding includes fitted sheets and duvets. mosquito units are supplied. All cottages are wall to wall carpeted and fully furnished, with lounge, either separate or open plan, stoep with furniture and braai area with 10kg wood supplied. To ensure the peace, quiet and privacy we offer you, there are no TV's and the cottages are not serviced.

Kitchen:
Equipped with: microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, stove, all cooking/eating utensils, condiments, dishwashing liquid, swabs and dishcloths.
Bathroom:
Bathrooms are equipped with: towels, toilet paper, hand soap, bath/shower gel, shampoo, body lotion & air freshener. Some have bath only, others bath & shower.
Security :
In spite of zero incidents we have electronic security gates and full armed security back-up. (Please note our gate times: 07h00 to 21h00)

Being a designated nature reserve, no pets are allowed.

Thatched, open plan two sleeper. Single beds next to each other. Bath, lovely view of garden & mountain in background. Braai. Ideal for a couple or friends.
No. 2 HOOPOE:
Thatched, open plan three sleeper with cot. Single beds next to each other, third bed separate. Bath, pretty garden view. Braai. Ideal for 3 adults & a baby, 2 adults & 1 child or 2 adults, 1 child and a baby.
No. 3 BARBET:
Thatched, separate bedroom, three sleeper. Double bed in bedroom, single bed in adjoining room. Bath, pretty garden view. Braai. Ideal for either:- 2 adults or 2 adults & 1 child.
No.4 ORIOLE:
Two bedroom four or five sleeper. Double bed in one room, double & single in other room. En suite bathroom. Bath & shower. Stunning mountain views. Braai. Ideal for a family or two couples.
No.5 PARADISE FLYCATCHER:
Exactly as Oriole above, with different colour schemes in bedrooms. Braai
No. 6 BEE-EATER: (NO CHILDREN UNDER 13 PERMITTED)
One bedroom, two/three sleeper. Double bed in bedroom, single bed in lounge enclave which forms an integral part of lounge area. En suite bathroom. Bath & shower. Very private with stunning views of the mountain. Braai. Ideal for a honeymoon or that special getaway.
No. 7 KINGFISHER: (NO CHILDREN UNDER 13 PERMITTED)
Exactly as Bee-Eater above, with different colour schemes (lounge & bedroom). The highest cottage with stunning mountain & river views. Braai.
No. 8 BLACK EAGLE:
Spacious two bedroom six sleeper. Double & single bed in each room. Bath & shower. Garden view. Ideal for large family or friends. Braai.

Area AttractionsMontana's Mountain
Take a hike or a more leisurely walk in the mountain. View stunning rock formations and remarkable geological phenomena. If you tread lightly you should see local buck, dassies and other indigenous inhabitants of the Magaliesberg. Fill your lungs with clear mountain air, and savour the natural bushveld aromas Trails - follow our pipeline or river up to the dams, follow the water source to the "eye" and continue to the top of the mountain. Discover majestic and breathtaking views. Or simply wander wherever your fancy takes you.
Historical
Discover a wide variety of unique rock formations dating back millions of years. In terms of South African history, a number of guests have found epaulettes (shoulder ornaments), bullets, dwellings and other paraphanalia from the Boer Wars. Montana's "garden room" was the Field Office for the English during the Boer Wars and their ablution block is just behind it.

Stroll around or relax in our beautiful gardens, sit at the duckpond, let the ducks & waterfalls soothe your nerves. Lie in the sun and enjoy a swim in our large, crystal-clear swimming pool surrounded by mountain views.

Buffelspoort Dam - Situated in beautiful surroundings, this recreational dam is well serviced and clean. Ideal for boating, fishing and water sports such as skiing.

Our neighbours have biking trails which you can enjoy for a small fee.
