Area AttractionsOnly a five minute drive from On the Vermont is the lovely and bustling town of Hermanus, originally a fishing village and now known as the "Riviera of the South". It has enough restaurants and cafes to excite and satisfy any cosmopolitan palate.
There is plenty to do including visits to the Old and New Harbours, the local townships, museums, a cinema and a nearby brewery. The town has many speciality stores and boutiques as well as arts and craft shops. A flea-market which showcases local craftsmanship and unique tourist curios operates on weekends and seven days a week during peak season.
Several festivals take place throughout the year; From the Food & Wine Fair in July, the Kalfiefees for performing arts in August, the Whale Festival in September celebrating particularly the calving season of the southern right whales, an Oktoberfest to the Hawston Sea Festival in December.
